We accept high school students ages 14-18, and potentially younger students if they demonstrate responsibility after some involvement.
Student Expectations
Cost:
Team members required to buy team T-shirt, generally $10-15 a shirt, and we’ll have polos available if wanted.
Parents are asked to periodically contribute snacks for the team during build season.
Out of town competition:
Not everyone is required to attend, although everyone is encouraged.
Team tries to subsidize hotel cost but depends on the success of fundraising.
Responsibility:
Taking Care of the Workplace. This includes:
Not Downloading or installing anything onto a team laptop without permission from the Team Lead or Sub-team lead of that area.
Cleaning up after the meetings to ensure the room is set up for other activities.
Returning tools & equipment to the proper place after use.
Using Machines only safely and with proper training.
Team Schedule
No minimum time commitment for students, show up as your schedule allows, but the more you are around the more opportunities there are to learn, contribute, and build friendships!
Team activity varies based on time of year and the sub-team you’re in, but in
Fall: We typically have two-and-a-half-hour meetings on Tuesday and Thursday.
Spring: we meet 3-5 days a week, depending on the phase of the build season.
